DIRECTORATE OF HEALTH AND ENVIRONMENTAL AFFAIRS
The Directorate of Health and Environmental Affairs has two Departments. The Department of Health affairs and the Department of Environmental Affairs. Looking at how the two aspects are impacting lives in our Community, the Foundation is laying down deliberate strategies to tackle the challenges arising out of these aspects. Through the various mobilization efforts, we plan to reach out to and work with the social groups to promote basic health practices, introduce, support and promote programs for environmental conservation.
The Department of Health Affairs
The Foundation will strive to realize an improved Health system in our Community, touching the physical, mental and social well-being. We are aware that a healthy body or environment is not merely the absence of disease or infirmity, but rather a state of well-being that leads to a productive life. Our focus will therefore be on an all-encompassing approach: from promotion of basic hygiene, better feeding cultures to mobilization for community health campaigns. Basic health campaigns will be focused on what people consider as common knowledge but which turns out to be either rare or difficult to practice. Many of the life threatening practices are things that arise from reluctance to adhere to medical advice thereby requiring constant reminders and follow-ups by those in charge of health campaigns.
The Foundation will participate in safe motherhood campaigns, right from encouragement of breastfeeding to supporting of household and community early childhood development as a bedrock for improved community health. The Foundation will cluster the social groups for better delivery of the activities, i.e. the youth, the elderly, women, etc. to be able to properly handle the various problems as they portray themselves physically, emotionally and socially, well aware that these aspects affects those social groups differently.
The Department of Environment
The issue of our Environment is increasingly becoming a concern for everybody. The rate at which our forests are being depleted by even those who are essentially meant to protect them is worrying. The speed at which pollution is growing is a time bomb waiting to explode. The Foundation plans to support all legal activities intended to protect the environment, including; planting of trees, environment protection seminars and workshops and any other forms of conservation and waste management. It will therefore be our norm that at every major function of the Foundation, there will always be a tree planting activity. We will also work with local authorities and Institutions to promote the environmental conservation campaigns.
