About Lubowa Ssebina Foundation
Background
Lubowa Ssebina Foundation was established in the Year 2020. Its establishment was a realization of a dream long born by the founder; Lubowa Ssebina Gyaviira, who for quite some time was involved in activities that are meant to improve the livelihood of the Communities to which he is linked. The Foundation is certified by the Registrar of Companies.
The Founder is a Certified Public Accountant of Uganda and is the Manager in charge of Accounts and Reporting, Directorate of Finance at Makerere University, (i.e. he deputizes the University Bursar). He is a Rotarian with the Rotary Club of Wakiso and Chairs the Bubbles Buddy Group as well as heading the Directorate of Investment of the Club. He was born from Kyali, grew up from Kyalugo, studied at Kaddugala SS; all these places are found in Nyendo-Mukungwe Division, one of the two Divisions that make up Masaka City. The kind of life he experienced while growing up and the hardships he went through to acquire education have been the key factors that pushed him to start up this Foundation to help the less privileged in his community.
The Foundation was subscribed to by five guarantors who constitute the Board of Directors and also head the five broad Directorates. These include:
- The Directorate of Governance, Planning and Resource mobilization
- The Directorate of Education and Sports
- The Directorate of Health, Economic and environmental affairs
- The Directorate of Gender, Social and Religious affairs
- The Directorate of Culture and Community engagement
The Foundation comes at a time when the country is faced with socio-economic difficulties in various ways. All communities are struggling in terms of infrastructure, health, education, household incomes and many other aspects of life. As a Foundation, we yearn to join hands with our community to devise means together to overcome the scathing socio-economic challenges.
